How bad are the dips on Space Mountain in Disney World?

i don't really like roller coasters (the most i really go on are things like the crazy mouse at the fair). are the dips on space mountain at disney world more like drops? or are they not too bad?

Space Mountain isn't bad at all. The drops are basically nonexistent. I used to hate rollercoasters myself. I just came back from a trip to Walt Disney World over Christmas break and I decided to go on the rides there. I can't believe how much I missed over the years! I have to say that Big Thunder Mountain is incredibly lame. I think you could definitely survive that. There aren't any drops and it doesn't even go that fast. The only exciting part of Splash Mountain is the end. There's a smaller drop earlier in the ride, but it's an equivilant to the drop in Pirates of the Caribbean. The drop in Splash Mountain is pretty steep, but it's over before you know it. It's kind of like a band-aid--just get it over with. It's really fun and the adrenaline rush after you go on it is awesome. Space Mountain is easy. I went on it before I went on Big Thunder Mountain and it was fine. It just seems faster than it is. In fact, Test Track in EPCOT is the fastest ride in all of WDW, and it only goes 65 mph. That's as fast as I go on the highway! I think Space Mountain only goes about 35 mph. It just seems faster because it's in the dark and there are a lot of turns. There are no loops or big drops. It's no sweat! At the beginning you go up a hill, but you don't go straight down.

I recommend Rockin' Roller Coaster in Disney's Hollywood Studios. It's a longshot, I know, and there's a loop and a corkscrew. But it is so worth it. You just have to commit yourself to going on. I am so glad I went on. Now I'm a roller coaster junkie! The "blast-off" at the beginning definitely looks faster than it is. Keep in mind that it doesn't go faster than 65 mph. I don't even think it gets close to that. There are no drops except for coming out of the loop, which is at the very beginning and then it's over with. The rest is a piece of cake. To tell you the truth, I was more afraid of falling out of my seat.. but that won't happen so don't worry. You're pretty strapped in. Also, I usually feel clausterphobic when I get the over-the-head straps on a roller coaster, but the ones on Rockin' Roller Coaster give you room to breathe. It's really not bad at all.

Expedition Everest is also really fun. However.. there is a big drop at the end, but it's quick. And the climb at the beginning to get to the "peak" is pretty high, but you don't go straight down from there. It takes a while. Also, you go backwards for a little bit and it goes kind of fast. But once again, not 65mph like Test Track. I'm not a big fan of the backwards part so I didn't like Everest as much as Rockin' Roller Coaster. One step at a time, though. There are no loops.

Test Track in EPCOT is not a roller coaster at all. It just goes fast at the end because it's like a car testing site and they're "testing its speed." But it's not bad at all.

The roller coasters at WDW are so much fun. There's also a roller coaster type ride at Universal called Revenge of the Mummy which is so fun. There are a few drops, but they're very minor. It's so fun! The effects are really cool and it's so worth it to go on. It also goes backwards, but only for two seconds and it doesn't even go fast. Then there's the Hulk.. I haven't gone on that yet. There are a bunch of loops on that and a few drops. It's huge. And Dueling Dragons.. where your feet are dangling. I haven't gone on that one either, but I can't wait until I do!

It is so worth it to face your dislike of roller coasters. I think you'll regret it if you don't try at least one of them. Once you go on one of them, you'll want more. Trust me. You'll like Space Mountain.
